Lady Gaga will return to perform at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards for the first time in five years, where she is also the night’s most-nominated artist.
A dozen chances: With 12 nods, Gaga is this year's top nominee, just ahead of Bruno Mars with 11 and Kendrick Lamar with 10. Her nominations include Video of the Year for "Die With a Smile," Artist of the Year, and Album of the Year for Mayhem.
A packed lineup: Gaga joins a roster that includes Doja Cat, Post Malone, and Sabrina Carpenter. The night will also feature career honors, with Mariah Carey receiving the Video Vanguard Award, Busta Rhymes getting the Rock the Bells Visionary Award, and Ricky Martin accepting the first-ever Latin Icon Award.
Changing channels: Hosted by LL COOL J, the show will air live from New York's UBS Arena on September 7. In a major shift for the broadcast, it will air on the CBS Television Network and stream on Paramount+, in addition to its traditional home on MTV.
Adding the night's top nominee solidifies the VMA's lineup as a major broadcast television event, creating a must-watch night designed to draw a wide audience for its CBS debut. Elsewhere in the music world, a fictional group from the TV show KPop Demon Hunters has a real-world No. 1 single on the Billboard Hot 100.
