UK-based Premier Sports has launched a dedicated rugby streaming service in Canada, asking a niche audience to pay a premium $30 monthly fee for its consolidated library of global competitions.
A full slate: The platform is a one-stop-shop for a slate of international rugby, including every match from the men’s and U20 Six Nations, the new Nations Championship, and Super Rugby Pacific. Coverage is set to kick off with the Six Nations tournament in February 2026.
The price of passion: The launch positions the streamer to capitalize on surging interest in Canadian rugby, but puts it on a collision course with established broadcaster TSN, which holds the rights to national team matches and offers a cheaper digital package. Premier Sports is betting its all-rugby, all-the-time content is a strong enough draw to convince dedicated fans the premium is worth it.
Premier Sports' success will depend on whether a consolidated library of top-tier international games is compelling enough to carve out a profitable niche in a market where the home team plays elsewhere. The Canadian launch is part of Premier Sports' broader global strategy to build a dedicated rugby-focused media brand.
