Music media company Stingray is expanding its deal with Paramount’s free streaming service Pluto TV, adding four new FAST channels, as reported by Advanced Television. The move brings more curated music and ambient content to the platform, including a channel dedicated to viral hits from TikTok.
What's on tap: The new lineup, now live in the U.S., features TikTok Radio, which plays the full songs behind trending video clips. It also includes Qello Concerts for concert films, Stingray DJAZZ for jazz performances, and ZenLIFE, a wellness-focused stream. These additions join Stingray’s three existing channels on the service.
Beyond the reruns: The strategy highlights a growing trend on FAST services: using niche, 'always-on' channels to keep viewers tuned in longer. For Pluto, it's a way to boost engagement beyond its library of reruns, while for Stingray, it's a direct path to get its curated music brands in front of a massive streaming audience.
The partnership underscores how streaming platforms are increasingly using specialized music and lifestyle content to capture viewer attention, filling a void left by the decline of traditional music television. Meanwhile, it's being framed by some as a significant partnership between Pluto TV and TikTok, signaling a deeper convergence of social media and linear streaming.
