Paramount Poaches Meta Product Vet to Lead its Tech Reinvention

Paramount Skydance has hired Dane Glasgow, a veteran product leader from Meta and Google, as its new Chief Product Officer. The move is a clear bid to overhaul the company’s technology and better compete against tech-native rivals by fixing its struggling streaming service, Paramount+.

  • The Ellison doctrine: The hire is a core part of CEO David Ellison's strategy to embed a Silicon Valley product mindset directly into the legacy studio. Ellison is banking on Glasgow to lead a technical and cultural overhaul, starting with the user experience on the company's streaming platform.
  • A big tech playbook: Glasgow comes from Meta, where as a VP his teams were responsible for core products like Reels and Feed. His resume also includes senior roles at Google, eBay, and Microsoft. At Paramount, he'll team up with direct-to-consumer chief Cindy Holland to steer product strategy across digital platforms and AI.
  • The official line: "Dane’s expertise is exactly what we need to strengthen every aspect of our business," Ellison said in a statement. “Entertainment and storytelling inspired my passion for technology from a very young age,” Glasgow added.

This move signals the new Paramount is betting its future not just on big blockbusters, but on building a tech product that can actually compete on user experience. It's an admission that in the streaming wars, content is no longer the only king.

  • Also on our radar: The strategic hire comes amid a period of major change, as the newly-merged company is also reportedly planning to cut thousands of jobs to reduce costs. Meanwhile, the new leadership is making big content bets, securing deals for a "Call of Duty" movie, a "Street Fighter" film, and the exclusive multi-billion dollar rights to broadcast the UFC.
